1920s Dancing

 

Thomas Mann writes of languid dancers, whereas the popular image of the Twenties (or the Roaring Twenties in other economies) is the Charleston, a very frenetic dance.  However, notice that this is, as Mann describes, tummy-to-tummy, and shoulders high because of the way the dancers hold each other.
